I figured out how Josh can do Christmas on a budget next year.

Get the beer flowing and “Regulators” pumping, it’s Chip Wooden’s birthday!
Even though he’s dealt a 7 and a 2 in this hand of life poker, may the flop come 777 and allow Chip to bust some fool with pocket rockets. (…Yeah it’s corny. And what.)
(Hopefully I’ll meet up with him sometime tonight and tell him in person)
Yesterday, the 9th, Chip and Cheryl celebrated their 2nd wedding anniversary! Congratulations!
Do my homework, then I pass out…
That’s a song that I haven’t heard since San Diego. It’s a song called “Stepdaddy” by a fine artist named Hitman Sammy Sam. Anyway, that’s some nice nostalgia, but not the point of the post.
We got a new dishwasher yesterday! I researched the bottom out of portable dishwashers, and found out that the Danby DDW1805 portable dishwasher is the holy grail of small, portable dishwashers. The only caveat? Either you pay gigantic freight charges or you’re waiting 6 weeks to 6 months to have one of the few certified dealers to get it in stock.
Fortunately, I’ve got one connected buddy that was able to get it for me from a supplier with no freight charges – in a day and a half. He’s not messing around. And he didn’t even have to break anybody’s kneecaps!
The man definitely deserves a plug for this, and if any of you are thinking about building your dream home in the Peoria area, consider giving Charles Rusk II Custom Homes a call. Here is a flyer (in PDF) that includes a house that Charlie and his crew built to put in the Peoria Parade of Homes. His house is on page 15 of the flyer, and page 8 of the PDF.
So I’ve officially done 2 loads of dishes, and the thing is awesome!

I don’t think Brian reads this site, but I wanted to make sure to send out a belated birthday wish to B-Real anyway. Hope you had a good one (it was the 19th), and I hope everything is going well with the new house!
Rawlins and his wonderful wife Laura are building a house in New Lennox, which is a suburb of Chi-town.
Here’s a picture of Rawls and I, right before a trip to a homeless shelter to give soup to kids:

Happy birthday, Chip! Again with the belatedness, but last week wasn’t very conducive to posting. We went over to Chip’s house last Sunday for his birthday, and it was really nice seeing everyone.
Here is to a great year of Farmington sports, finished basements, and college football!
Congratulations Adam and Rachel Davis! This post is really late in coming, but we went to a wedding on the 16th for our good friend Adam and his new bride. Adam is one of those genuine nice guys, and we’re really happy for him, Rachel, and his two new daughters!
Josh Schulz has crafted a nifty little script that will convert all of your iTunes Playlists (even the smart ones)into good ol’ standard MP3 Playlists (M3u format). What does this mean?
For those of you that have rio music players, or iriver, or any other standard-compliant mp3 player, you can use the resulting playlists to synch up all (except songs purchased from the iTunes music store) your music to your mp3 player, and enjoy all of the benefits of iTunes management (such as smart playlists).
An example:
Rhya, who has a 256MB rio cali, can create a smart playlist that contains any song with an artist containing “Petty” or anything with a genre of “Oldies”, etc., etc. Then, she can limit that playlist to choosing songs out of all of that music at random to create a list of songs that doesn’t go over 256MB. We set Josh’s script to run every morning, and when she wants to jump on the elliptical, she has a bunch of songs that she knows are good, but are constantly changing ready in her MP3 player.
Awesome. Since Josh has the API down, maybe I could request a script that I think would make some peoples’ lives easier:
Anyone that deals with iTunes knows that deleting songs is a pain in the butt. Seriously. You have to right-click on the song, pick something like “show original file…”, delete the file, then right click on the song again, then select “clear”. This sucks.
Imagine this. Josh creates a script that if a song exists in the Library with an unchecked box (this attribute must be at the Library level, not simply unchecked in a playlist), the song is deleted, and the entry cleared from the Library. I could go through my music, uncheck things that I wanted deleted, and wait for the scheduled job to run.
I’m sure this would be a piece of cake for someone that has such a command of the API (hint hint).
I’m not quite sure how I’m going to implement this in this site yet (or if I will). Between the Linkblog, and a static list of sites that I link to, I’m not sure how much more appetite I have to litter the site with links. However, this is my Bloglines subscription list. If you can recommend any more, I’m definitely open.
